About the family
Four generations of builders
Eddie Duran learned the trade from his father, Charles, and his grandfather Edward George, who started out as a trim carpenter. Eddie was nailing baseboards in closets beside them by the age of five. In 1980, Eddie and his wife, Naomi, opened Duran Homes in Jackson. You may remember the TV commercials, and the little boy saying "If Anybody Can, Duran Can." That's their son, Josh, the fourth generation.
Many of our crews have built with us for more than 15 years. Eddie and Naomi have been active in the Home Builders Association at the local, state and national levels for over 30 years, and many of our clients send their own children to us when it's their turn to build.

Good questions to ask
Do you build on my land?
Yes. Most of the homes we build go on land our clients already own, from family land in the country to a lot in town. If you own land, ask about the Duran Can Land Program.
How much per square foot do you charge?
It's the question we hear most. A per-square-foot number doesn't tell you what's actually in the home, like the design, the features and the quality of the finishes. Bring your plans, or let Naomi design one, and we'll tell you what your home would cost to build.
Do you help with plans?
Yes. We can build from plans you already have, or draw a plan from scratch around how your family lives.
How does financing work for a custom home?
Building usually involves a construction loan that becomes your mortgage. Naomi walks you through getting approved, ordering appraisals and the paperwork before construction starts. Every family's situation is different, so call and we'll go over your options.
How long does it take to build?
It depends on the plan, the site, loan approval and the weather. We'll give you a realistic timeline for your home when we price it.
